Vista the WINNER

Everyone has read those "Vista vs Linux" and similar articles. In most of the cases the clear winner is the rival to Vista or I general we can say Windows always looses. Hmmm... Sounds true, doesn't it??? Well its just like the text book. You read something but when you come to the field you find something else.

Vista is clearly the winner in the actual world. Reason? Well there are many. The guys who write against windows aren't many. Most people have to keep windows because of the compatibility issue. So, chances are that, people who write against windows, use windows. Wine can't yet run all the applications of windows and so it is always safer to have Windows for everyone.

So you will say, more and more people are switching from window over to linux??? Agreed. But just consider the number who are just starting to use computers for the first time. They all use windows, right??? A kid always has his first learned operating system as windows. So when anyone sees a windows desktop they see a familiar screen and immediately the term user-friendly comes into play. Even though linux has become considerably user-friendly but who has got the time to see that???

"Vista copied", is a familiar term. It copied from Mac, from Linux and from God-knows-where. So what??? See the brighter side. This is what I got as reply from a professor when I said the exact same thing. "So what, now Vista has got the features of all the operating systems. So why shall I go for others, when i find it in vista." i wont comment anything on it. Just leave you to think about it and give your own comments.

Spammer's Delight

A new method of cheating people is currently going around the internet nowadays. Well its not entirely new, but it is so promising, that even intelligent people will fall into the traps.

Some of us may be receiving mails about Free World Cup lottery saying that we have won 1,000,000 pounds, take or give. The winner was decided by a lottery in which your email address came up as a winner. Sounds too good to be true, right??? First of all, did you ever sign up for the lottery. Where in the world, will anyone automatically sign you up for the lottery. Second, they wont ask you any money or bank account till the end, where they will demand you a sum of at least 250 pounds to ship the money safe and secure. Now theres the proof of spam right. The spammer is sure to have made more than a million pound by cheating people. The money transfer is to be through western union so no way of tracking him. So the story ends.

Another spam which has gained a lot of popularity these days is about someone choosing you as a nominee to transfer his/her money. The story reads something like this:- "I am a rich nigerian having no children and sick nowadays. I am in my deathbed and so I am trusting you to help me transfer my money to charity and keep some for yourself." The rich Nigerian in fact isn't rich but just a poor person with a computer. the story has gone many changes in the passing time but the objective remains the same; to get your personal info.

Fortunately, yahoo and Google have been successful in catching all made up stories of the second type. But fail terribly when it comes to the first type. Perhaps because it thinks that you really participated in some lottery. Well I hope they don't think that much and stop such filthy mail.

My Drifting Experience

So I had always asked, "How do I drift???". The reply I got was:- "Pull the handbrake and turn the steering, with a little power on the accelerator". But somehow this simple way felt too bold a step to take in my father's car. After all what if the car turns over just like Daniel Craig in Casino Royale did. I don't care about anything happening to me but was just worried about the car. So I thought "Someday when I will have my own car, then I will try out".

But fate had some other plans. Today I got my hands on a WagonR. For those of you don't know it's not a drifting car cause it has got a little extra height and isn't that long. It's more of a van. It looks somewhat like this.

But I was determined and there was no stopping me. I went to a middle of a grassy patch with about speeds of 60 km/hr, pulled the handbrake a little and turned the steering. The car didn't turn over but it did an amazing 180 turn and screeched to a stop. My brother sitting by my side was quiet horrified (Actually I was too). It took 2 kit-kats to keep his mouth shut. But it was first of a experience and I won't forget it.

Also if anybody knows any other way to drift and have tried it out, please do tell.

Pirates of the World - At Caribbean's End

First day, first show at the theater to watch the last and the latest of the Pirates series, I was quite disappointed. The plot of the movie is confusing, especially for a kid (hence the title). But as someone said, who cares??? Jack Sparrow is still funny, Will Turner has still got good looks and Elizabeth Swann is still hot. So the storyline really doesn't matter.

To start shooting a story without a final script clearly shows in the movie. The plot is a lot different from the leaked script a couple of months back. The action and special effects is superb and so you won't feel a lot sleepy. The movie is about three hours long and sometimes it drags.

The movie has got a lot of bollywood effects on it. For example, Orlando Bloom proposing to Keira Knightley in the middle of a fight and Barbarossa acting as the priest, all the while fighting. So the movie was a bore for me, while my kid brother watched it. You would really like this movie if you are one of those action maniacs without really giving a thought about the plot line, or you are a great fans of Keira Knightley. Or else I won't recommend to watch it.
