EA to launch "The Simpsons Game"

Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed details on its forthcoming offering, "The Simpsons Game," which is based on the world's favorite animated family show.

The game will feature 16 levels designed as separate episodes, as the Simpsons family, Homer, Marge, Bart or Lisa, find themselves trapped in a videogame, Scott Amos, the real game's executive producer, told a press conference Wednesday.

As part of this short storyline, Bart gets to indulge one of the wishes he has long expressed on TV: being a superhero.

"Bart has always wanted to be Bartman," Amos said, "so we let him live out this fantasy."

The action-comedy will also feature the full cast of voice actors from the TV show who will reprise their roles for the game.

The game is being created in partnership with Gracie Films and Twentieth Century Fox, with its storyline written by the TV show's Emmy Award-winning writers.

Amos said that though the timing of the new Simpsons game is coincident with the forthcoming Simpsons movie, there is in fact no relationship.

The Simpsons Game is scheduled for release this fall for the every game console: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP (PlayStation Portable), Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.
