Chain Messages

Some people come up with really great chain messages. Fortunately, I can only enjoy being one of the victims. Here is the latest one being passed around.

PLZ...PLZ..PLZ...pass it on ...it costs u nothing ..an indian student in USA met with an accident last week.... the car was driven by an american boy.... he has no one in US ... his parents cant afford to go to US and help him out ..... however the university he studied has decided to pay the half amount but the other half has to b paid b someone .....THE INDIAN STUDENTS ASSOCIATION has decided to pay10 cents everytime this message is passed on... YAHOO has agreed to this and this is the time to show tht u r a true indian ....plz b generous and send this to all people

So now we have got the origin of this message. It is the Indian Students Association. But there are some many ISA's it is hardly the point in finding which one. But did it ever occur to the people who keep it passing on that, how are they going to track the number of times it was forwarded.

Besides I like the point of paying half the amount and let the parents figure out the other. It is a great story for a Bollywood movie if you can get SRK to act in it.

Provided it all occured, try to imagine the plight of the parents. They will be forwarding it to everyone they know. And who knows maybe spamming the chat rooms too.

Till now I have got this message about 10 times. Not that I have got a really large friends list, but some people just love using the send all feature some time.

Second thoughts:-
Wheres the logic???

Best way to propose

Came by some interesting ad at youtube. Suits the Valentine day just passing by.

Vday problems??? Simple solution...

Feb 14 in India saw a lot of protests from "activists" such as Bajrang Dal. Cards were burnt, flowers were thrown out, lovers were humiliated and some were smeared with black paint. Did I miss something??? Oh, I guess lot. But I am not writing it here to protest about it.

Bajrang Dal has nothing against loving each other. It is all about the day that makes it so special for them. You can go around the whole year publicly displaying your affection, even in front of these "active" people with little or no consequences. Yet on exactly Feb 14 even if you dare to walk out with your sister, you better be prepared (along with your sister) for the worst. So we can sum up that like a lady has periods, this Bajrang Dal people have also got periods, except it comes once a year and that is on feb 14.

Since all they want is not celebrate Valentine's day cause it is not in our culture, why don't we just shift it??? Shift it to a day like October 2, Gandhi Jayanti. Gandhi was a patron of peace and love (even though he was a failure in his own love life). By saying shift it, all I mean is withhold the celebrations till the other date. Or finding a still better date, let's celebrate it on Children's day. I think Bajrang Dal will be too busy in other activities on these days, to look into other matters.

So, it was just a suggestion. Bajrang Dal, you simply suck! I hope you guys never marry and die your entire life protesting against love. And by the way, guys do let me know on what date you settle on.

Second thoughts :- What does the VHP stand for? "Valentine Hindu Party".

Independent yet???

Seven days back we(Indians) celebrated our 60th Indpendence Day. A fortnight back all the news channels were full of all the info they could find in their archives. Talk shows were raining in every channel. Today hardly is there a word about it anywhere except in the Times, which has started a campaign "Lead India". But thats beside the point.

The point is everybody is trying to be independent today. Not of foreign rule, not of the corrupt society, but of their responsibilities. While our great Prime Minister was giving a speech and making promises on the special eve, did he ever look back and reflect upon what he had said and done on the previous I-day. Or did anybody care about that? Oh, how can they be, when it was a national holiday and everyone was spending some extra time with their family. Promises are made every independence day and broken right before the next year's one. The only time when the promises of the countrymen are fulfilled is just before the elections. So should we shift our independence day???

While it is our full responsibility to blame the politicians, it is also our responsibility to blame ourselves. While saying this I remember of the Simpsons Movie when the Greenday Band is just going to preach about the Environment. I find myself in a similar situation. Yet, you all understand what I aim to say. So its our country and our future.

Living Live Earth

My first pledge to save the earth??? To watch Live earth all 24 hours. I have already made all the other pledges and I am taking time off in the break to write all this.

The kickoff was really great. "Genki Rockets" really gave a rocket start to the concert in Tokyo. It was the song "Heavenly Star". Never heard it before but really liked it. Here is the song I got off youtube.

And I also liked the official song of Live Earth sung by Madonna. Here it is.

I don't know if I can remain awake for more than 24 hours, but let's see. It hasn't bored me till now for a single second. Hope you are watching too. But even if you aren't, don't hesitate to save this planet.

The end of "Swan"

I always liked watching lawn tennis. Wimbledon is one of the special events, and I guess no fan will miss it. But the real attraction for me was Maria Sharapova in her inspired "Swan Lake" dress. With all the frills in it, the viewers were in thrills. She had already attracted my attention many a times before by her play and her "Russian" looks, but this was something entirely different for me. I have never seen the Swan Lake ballet and neither do I regret it. This girl here gave me more than a ballet on the court.

But its a shame she is out now. I would have liked to catch a little more of that dress. At least till the finals. But she played like a duck (not a swan), more like a duckling against Venus. It was a whitewash and Maria is now gone swimming back. But even if she isn't the winner, I bet nobody can't beat her in sporting a better outfit.

Spammer's Delight

A new method of cheating people is currently going around the internet nowadays. Well its not entirely new, but it is so promising, that even intelligent people will fall into the traps.

Some of us may be receiving mails about Free World Cup lottery saying that we have won 1,000,000 pounds, take or give. The winner was decided by a lottery in which your email address came up as a winner. Sounds too good to be true, right??? First of all, did you ever sign up for the lottery. Where in the world, will anyone automatically sign you up for the lottery. Second, they wont ask you any money or bank account till the end, where they will demand you a sum of at least 250 pounds to ship the money safe and secure. Now theres the proof of spam right. The spammer is sure to have made more than a million pound by cheating people. The money transfer is to be through western union so no way of tracking him. So the story ends.

Another spam which has gained a lot of popularity these days is about someone choosing you as a nominee to transfer his/her money. The story reads something like this:- "I am a rich nigerian having no children and sick nowadays. I am in my deathbed and so I am trusting you to help me transfer my money to charity and keep some for yourself." The rich Nigerian in fact isn't rich but just a poor person with a computer. the story has gone many changes in the passing time but the objective remains the same; to get your personal info.

Fortunately, yahoo and Google have been successful in catching all made up stories of the second type. But fail terribly when it comes to the first type. Perhaps because it thinks that you really participated in some lottery. Well I hope they don't think that much and stop such filthy mail.

My Drifting Experience

So I had always asked, "How do I drift???". The reply I got was:- "Pull the handbrake and turn the steering, with a little power on the accelerator". But somehow this simple way felt too bold a step to take in my father's car. After all what if the car turns over just like Daniel Craig in Casino Royale did. I don't care about anything happening to me but was just worried about the car. So I thought "Someday when I will have my own car, then I will try out".

But fate had some other plans. Today I got my hands on a WagonR. For those of you don't know it's not a drifting car cause it has got a little extra height and isn't that long. It's more of a van. It looks somewhat like this.

But I was determined and there was no stopping me. I went to a middle of a grassy patch with about speeds of 60 km/hr, pulled the handbrake a little and turned the steering. The car didn't turn over but it did an amazing 180 turn and screeched to a stop. My brother sitting by my side was quiet horrified (Actually I was too). It took 2 kit-kats to keep his mouth shut. But it was first of a experience and I won't forget it.

Also if anybody knows any other way to drift and have tried it out, please do tell.

Who's it ..........in or out?????

A seemingly familiar voice,
"invokes, helps , disturbs , distracts......."

It happens usually , occured again today and made for a spectacle. "He" walked in without notifying and kept on gabbing ,till I didnt respond.
I dont tell "HIM"(supposedly), where I go and what all I do but "HE" picks up the same topic . I wonder, "HIS" news sources are better than ajjtak (the sabse tez team) .
Follows ,more than my shadow ever does, gives no space to experience solitude, catches every single expression of my face , assumably knows everything I hvnt even strategised and even the ideas which havent made any appearance in my brain.

Our little conversation today , in the middle of the road:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HE: Why didnt you hve anything till now , its three in noon.

I: ........SILENCE(I need to drive cautiously)

HE: Helloooooooo?Dieting???

I: ......(How on earth does that matter you?)

HE: okie . We ll talk about something else.

I :.........(One more one sided conversation)

H:How was the class? Do you like the new monkey there?

I: ........(I would hve liked to tell you , monkeys are far better than what you 're)

H: Speak up , I know you have "Shatabdish tongue"

I: ....[Rather "A bulletic tongue", wish it could tear you apart.)

H: Okie , lets not go home , the weather is fine for wandering around .

I: Shutup you......inside out or outside in or whatsoever ghost of words.

H: Am happy I made you speak finally.

_____________________________________________________________
People around stared me as if I were a clown , true enough , the setting was perfect to make for a spectacle , a hilarious one ,as they think m mad enough to talk to myself in the middle of the road.....how would they know I was talking to him....Nobody can hear him or see him..........Its me who has to bear him and his never ending talks , preachings and the sense of his presence always around me.

Its my inner voice , my god , my friend who never ceases to talk and never ever leaves me alone but quite a many times puts me in such situations.
.....errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Damn cant you stop talkin while I drive

"CAN I SCREAM..........."

As a kid , whenever(quite oft)I thought about the encounters (not at all wished for)with robbers, thieves or burglars(as if I was a policeman).......the question which popped up in my mind(I hve a question generating machine..do not confuse it with a pop corn popping one)...

"Would I be able to scream or I shall succumb to fear
And close my eyes to die a coward's death?"(living like cowards is almost like dying , aint it?)

My much thought about and popped about questions came alive .
A burglar broke into our home (He didnt get any other place to be in)
It was midnight , I had just got into my bed after learning my lessons at 2 pm (what a student)
Imagine what happened, he stood right before my bed , assuming me to be half dead(soundly sleeping.)
I heard something and opened my eyes a bit , I saw...[couldnt run out of room].....a---aaa---aaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaa-----aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I saw....................who else than he, the his highness, burglar standing right across .

I always thought I would lose the sense of speaking if it ever happened but unlike my thoughts,I got up instead of shutting my eyes from the glaring truth [that he was right there]and screamed.......MUMMMAAAAAAAAA,HERE'S SOMEONE[ wasnt heroic?]

C'mon my shriek made him run away & due to my "VOICE POWER" we didnt lose anything.
The local newspapers repoted it as a brave act .But I think "Necessity was the mother of my shriek's invention"

My popping machine still works as it used to, the only difference is that it asks a different question for such a situation:"Can I kick him and tie him up"
For chekcing this out , I need a new burglar, what are you waiting for now?
Ready to take a chance ?

2 DARK MINUTES.....

My world didnt seem
to be mine anymore

My rainbowic life turned
"jet black"

And that made me feel
"black isnt so beautiful"

FOR THOSE TWO MINUTE MINUTES!

Slammed doors,
hit seemingly unfamiliar things
smashed windows, crashed glasses--
-----------------------------------------BANG !BANG!!BANG!!!!!

FOR THOSE TWO MINUTE MINUTES!

Scared to death,
crept on to seek the right path,
to get out of this unlit sphere

FOR THOSE TWO MINUTE MINUTES!

Heaved a sigh when a car passed by
and illuminated the street across
for a fraction of second

WITHIN THOSE TWO MINUTE MINUTES!
The two silent , blind , limping n lingering minutes
horrified me for "two minutes"

The best part was that it just lasted for those two minute minutes
Life's all the same after that......a rainbow of beautiful hues............

The third sex.....the third world....

The eye movements , the winking eyelids , the lip bitings....
The ladyish dressing style and overly done over makeup....
The "latkas jhatkas" which only they can perform...............
Dancing , singing , titivating up all the time.............................
The weird mannerisms and erotic sense of humor................
This is all which makes them "standout"wherever they be.

But is it what they 're all about?

Making fun of oneself,
Catching attention by putting oneself in an embarassing state,
Isnt anything which anyone ll do willingly,

But they have to.......

You'll find them allwhere , be it any occasion....................
Dancing and arguing their way out to strike a good deal...
Every act accompanied with a "fakely real smile"..............
Hiding the pain , the displeasures, the melancholy state...
Isnt anything which all of us can do,

But they have to.......

At times you find them itchy,
At times you find them funny,
Is it all what they 're all about?

But they have to.......

Eunuch's-the unique homosapiens who 're commonly known as "uninvited guests".Their curses and blessings are both considered to be true. Battle through their lives finding an identity for themselves in a society like ours where being a eunuch is almost equal to being a non homo sapien.

Here's a link to a brilliant article on eunuch's:

http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/mag/2002/02/03/stories/2002020300230400.htm

P.S.-A story on their lives may follow this write up soon.

Theres no news as bad NEWS!!!

Thats the formula of every news channel today, at least it seems to if you apply some logic. If you opened any news channel the day before yesterday, there were stories about the art protest everywhere. Some had even got experts to speak upon the topic(just to attract visitors actually). But today every news channel has gone blank. Zero news about it. Where did all the heat go? It was not a fire from a single match. The whole nation's artists came together for this. And its over so soon?

The same thing happens to every news which is important today. Instead the news which will attract people( I don't know what kind of), are shown round the clock. Take the case of the kissing issue between Richard Gear and Shilpa Shetty. The footage is still shown in some news channels. But is it that big issue? Some news channels (one, actually) even called up Mika to ask him how he felt about the issue (he is a real expert isn't he?). Just imagine embarrassment felt by that poor guy. But the news channel got a higher TRP as planned.

Haven't news channels taken birth like termites??? Large in number, yet so few useful. Everybody is fighting for "exclusive" news which doesn't exist. So they are making crap, headlines of the day. Haven't we had enough? Shouldn't the Government come up and censor news channels instead of being concerned about FTV and AXN showing something adult? The number of news channels is even more than the number of Ekta Kapoor's soaps. And news channels are no different than Ekta Kapoor's soaps. Theres murder, suspense(what's coming up after the break?) and drama, everything anyone can ask for.

When success is a necessity…..

The day of jubilations and celebrations for around 500-odd candidates who’re about to step in the Indian bureaucracy.

Mutyalaraju Revu , an Andhra guy belonging to a humble background outdid all and sundry to get #1 rank in his third attempt out of three lakhs candidates who appeared for it. His father is a farmer in the Krishna district of the state. In his last attempt he had been awarded an IPS post. Perseverance and hard work are what he calls his strategic keys to success.

Must be wondering , what was the need to put this information here ?, when its already all over the tabloid these days.

What motivated this engineer turned IAS into taking the plunge to untie this gordian knot was something which could have in a usual case dishearten someone.

His source of inspiration.....

“During my third year B Tech, some of my friends came to my village, which lacks proper transport, education and medical facilities, for a picnic. Six of them drowned and died in the sea. And it took us two hours to reach the nearby town for some medical help. This incident made me appear for civil services,” Revu says.

His course of action……

“He says he would not be able to serve the nation if he’d go abroad.I wanted to be in civil services so that I can render my services to the nation, “ the topper says.
“It depends on the district I get. But my concentration will be on rural development because 70 per cent of the people live in rural India and they aren’t enough facilities even after 57 years of independence.”

Living for a cause and working for emancipation , these ‘re the characteristic traits one must possess for the growth of humanity on the whole.

Success may be defined in a number of ways but the best form is when its just not a dream but a necessity turned into reality as it happened in Revu’s case.

We often call people like Revu as lucky one’s but its so easy to understate one’s years of efforts by calling them lucky.
Anybody can be successful overnight but nobody should forget that this night comes after hours of hard work , days of perseverance , months of will & endurance and years of efforts.

“Heights by greatmen were not achieved in a single flight , they while their companions slept were toiling upwards in the night”

When the Judges aren't qualified to Judge

If any of you have read Ayn Rand's Fountainhead, the story of Baroda art protest will seem somewhat similar to you. Except it has got an Indian tadka to it. Howard Roark, the protagonist of the book, faced some similar protest against his designed buildings. And he was all alone in it (I know it sounds a lot impossible). Our Baroda dewd Chnadu isn't all alone though, we are all with him.

Every new idea has faced by protest in its time. But later on, it is the people who protest who support it. Did the Indian Govt (including the police and the judges) ever heard of renaissance period? If they find M F Husain's art objectionable why don't they go and visit the renaissance museum. Here are some pics of the the paintings by Michelangelo.

http://www.gutenberg.org/files/18900/18900-h/images/image_112.jpg

http://www.toscanaviva.com/Firenze/david_michelangelo.jpg

In fact to all those "non-artists", David is one of the masterpieces of Michelangelo.

Howard Roark (Oh yeah, I am a big fan), never entered design contests. upon being asked why he had said that other people didn't have the mind to judge him and he won't give them a chance.

Parting words:-

The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody has decided not to see.

-Ayn Rand

The ART thingy

I still remember my first "good" art book. I was in a book fair. It was big, had a lot of drawing on its cover page and looked cool. I was so impressed by its cover that I didn't even care to look inside to take it home. It was by a foreign author. My Dad was kind enough to buy me that, knowing my interests well. One thing I learnt from that book was if you want to draw curves better draw the natural curves to master them (I assume you understand what I mean). Of course I was a minor and couldn't get anybody to pose for me. Otherwise I can imagine something like the Titanic scene (just kidding). I still am proud that I had bought that book. When everything is going for a change why cant art? Over the years the meaning of art has changed. It has got a whole new feeling to it today. Indian artists have probably been a lot successful overseas than in their own country. Thanks to the politicians who find enough time to indulge in other matters rather than seeing to their duty, the police officers who have become the puppets of the politicians, the judges who can be bought and sold like vegetables and the common man, the illiterate common man, who will say anything without having any idea about it. This is what India has become today. What is the future?

Why don't we leave the meaning of the paintings to the artists themselves. Otherwise break each and every temple present in the country. Which temple hasn't got "obscene" paintings? it amazes the aliens while we shame on it. What a proud country we are? We hold our culture and traditions. What exactly is our culture, our tradition? This is the country which gave the world a whole new dimension of knowledge in every field. But after about 60 years of independence we still don't know how to respect it.

My grandmother had told me a principle which I shall never forget. Every person has his own view. A person can look at a rock and throw it away saying its unusable. From the same rock a diamond can be extracted by someone else. Its the way we are looking at things which matters most. So if you look at those paintings you will see what you want to see. If you want to see adultery in those painting you will see it clearly, if you want to see its beauty you will see it, what matters is what type of mind, thoughts and look you have. Haven't I said enough?

Idiotorial cum editorial column

Lost in the universe of (self made) slangs 'n' abbreviations , the chatters keep on 'chattofying' ..(such words ll keep on ushering now).
Be it the continuous form of tense or not.......we would still add "ing" as a suffix to just not a verb but every single word we use ,
for instance (a brief conversation)- Hiya, howdy? [Hi, how're u]
Kya karing , wassup? [A simple , what's going on at your
end could do ]
kuchh soching?....(if yes) then gooding...
huh!
nvm , I mean never mind if u didnt make out what I wanted to convey....after all "its not as simple as sharpening ur pencil"[self invented idiom or may be discovered]............or as easy as chewing ur gum [hey ! dont start chewing ur gums now..:p]

Its getting baffling , aint it?.....all what u need is an internet lingo translator....scroll down for the link

Do you really feel the need? , We can do this on our own by trying not to adulterate any language .:)

Unique reasons for quitting jobs!!!

Why do employees quit jobs???

Here are some of the responses:

-- "An employee left because he didn't like the smell of the office."

-- "One guy said he was making too much money and didn't feel like he was worth it."

-- "A worker didn't like to use a computer and said the job wasn't as glamorous as she thought."

-- "A person left because she didn't like the lighting in our building."

In cases such as those below, parting ways may not be such a bad thing:

-- "The person said he was bored."

-- "One employee quit because he said he was over-employed." -- "We had a guy who said he couldn't get up in the morning."

-- "The employee quit because she didn't want to work so hard."

-- "One worker quit because he thought the location wasn't exciting enough."

While many people enjoy their jobs, work often takes a backseat to other pursuits:

-- "A person wanted to sunbathe on the beach in Europe."

-- "We had someone leave to train for a triathlon."

-- "He quit to go sailing."

-- "An employee said she was going to live on her trust fund."

-- "A worker left to climb Mount Everest."

These next professionals said they needed to get out of town:

-- "An employee moved to Italy because she didn't like the outcome of the election."

-- "We had a woman leave to tend bar in Costa Rica."

-- "One person left because he had to join the Witness Protection Program."

Career changes sparked some people to give notice:

-- "An employee quit to go to Hollywood and become a movie star."

-- "Someone left to join the circus."

-- "A worker left to become a strawberry farmer."

-- "A guy left to become a golf pro."

-- "One staff member left to play the trombone."

-- "A worker joined the clergy."

Then there was the employee who had a silent exit strategy:

-- "He just walked out without a peep. Until this day we have no idea why he left, nor were we able to contact him."
